Byron Ernest, Ed.D. has made significant impact globally in the field of education and received the Education Excellence Award in Dubai as part of the 2024 Impact Leadership Awards. He was the 2010 Indiana “Teacher of the Year” and 2011 Christopher Columbus Foundation Outstanding National Agriscience Teacher. As a long-time agricultural science teacher and FFA advisor, he exemplified strong leadership skills and a commitment to postsecondary student success. Ernest started a new agriculture program from scratch and as a principal he transformed a failing high school in Indianapolis, Indiana into a high performing school. His career has been focused on preparing students for postsecondary success, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their future endeavors. Through Leadery Global, a professional service firm founded by Byron in 2021, he is currently serving the National Center for Rural Education Research Networks as a Network Facilitator. Finally, Ernest serves as a citizen leader on the Indiana State Board of Education and board of directors for the National Association of State Boards of Education.
