NCRERN Newsletter: Winter 2023
We are more than halfway through the 2022-23 school year, and over the past few months, NCRERN districts have been hard at work in piloting one of two interventions: What’s Your Path? with 9th grade students and postsecondary entry checklists with 12th graders. Across the network, we have already learned so much about what it takes to implement these interventions, and we are excited to continue to learn more from our partner districts throughout the rest of this school year.
Mid-Implementation Meeting
NCRERN brought its postsecondary readiness (PSR) and postsecondary entry (PSE) networks together for a mid-implementation meeting on February 8th and 10th. The purpose of this session was to review implementation trends and themes across the two interventions, What’s Your Path? (PSR) and the Postsecondary Entry Checklists (PSE), and provide an opportunity for districts to learn from one another about promising strategies and best practices. In the District Spotlight section below, you’ll find more information on four of our partner districts’ creative approaches to supporting their students as they plan for their next steps after high school.
LIFT Up Attendance National Pilot Underway
In addition to the work of our state networks, NCRERN has partnered with Infinite Campus this year to pilot the LIFT Up Attendance personalized messaging program at scale with a national cohort of districts. Our 2022-23 pilot is underway, and thousands of messages have already gone out to families and caregivers in these communities this year. We are learning a lot about bringing the personalized messaging attendance program to scale, and we’re grateful to our national cohort for sticking with us through this piloting process.
Rural Education Resources and Events
Lastly, we’d like to showcase rural education resources that our team has gathered, including a blog post showcasing NCRERN’s process, a recap of the collaboration between NCRERN and the Connecticut RISE Network, rural mental health webinars, and some toolkits and strategies to support and promote postsecondary readiness and entry amongst students. We hope you will engage with NCRERN by visiting our website, reaching out to us, or forwarding this newsletter to someone interested in rural education.
